About HomeCalc Tools

Honest cost estimates from a real small business — built so homeowners stop getting overcharged.

Who We Are

HomeCalc Tools is published by Cross Digital Ventures LLC, a small business based in Kansas City, Missouri. The site is owned and operated by Bobby Cross. Cross Digital Ventures is also the parent of Cross Mechanical Heating & Cooling, a licensed HVAC contractor serving the Kansas City metro — which is how we know what real installed prices look like, not just what manufacturers list. You can reach us through our Contact page.

Why We Built This Site

When you call a contractor for a quote, you have no way to know whether the number they give you is fair. Some homeowners get quoted twice what their neighbor paid for the same job, and most have no easy way to spot it. We built HomeCalc Tools because every homeowner deserves a credible cost ballpark before the contractor walks in — not after. Our calculators give a realistic 2026 installed-price range based on the actual cost drivers (home size, materials, efficiency, labor in your region) so you can budget honestly and recognize an overpriced quote when you see one.

How Our Estimates Are Built

Every calculator on this site uses cost ranges and formulas grounded in real-world contractor pricing, equipment supplier catalogs, and recent project data. We don't just publish manufacturer MSRP — we add typical installation, labor, and ductwork or prep costs, and we keep the numbers updated as the market shifts. The result is intentionally a range rather than a single number, because real jobs vary by region, complexity, and crew. Use the low end of the range as a tight budget and the high end as a "don't pay more than this" ceiling.

What HomeCalc Tools Is Not

We are not a lead-generation broker that sells your information to a queue of contractors. We are not affiliated with any specific manufacturer. We don't gate the calculators behind a sign-up form — you use the tool, you get the number, that's it. If we recommend a product in our affiliate sections, it's one we'd actually use, and we earn a small commission only if you choose to buy it through our link. That commission is what keeps the calculators free to use.

Our Promise to Homeowners

We will keep these calculators free, keep the math honest, and keep the explanations plain. If you spot an estimate that looks off, tell us — we'll fix it. If a contractor quotes you something wildly different from our range and you want a sanity check, you can reach us. And if you happen to be in the Kansas City metro and want a real, no-pressure HVAC quote, the same family that publishes this site can give you one through Cross Mechanical.
